This care, cultivated within the mentality of Albanian society\u2014with diversity elements seen as an important part of cultural heritage\u2014has resulted in a harmonious and tolerant coexistence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Law No. 96\/2017 \u201cOn the Protection of National Minorities in the Republic of Albania\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Law No. 96\/2017 completes the legal and institutional framework for national minorities in Albania and serves to clarify policies toward minorities by addressing the recommendations of the Advisory Committee of the Framework Convention during previous monitoring cycles. The laws and by-laws adopted in its implementation aim to guarantee the full enjoyment and exercise of the individual rights of persons belonging to national minorities, to protect the distinct identity of national minorities, and to ensure non-discrimination and equality before the law.<\/p>\n

Since July 13, 1995, Albania has been a member state of the Council of Europe. A very important instrument for the recognition and protection of minority rights is is the Council of Europe\u2019s Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
